About the Position
We are looking for a Riding Instructor who is confident working with horses and enjoys helping riders develop their skills. This position will work with a variety of riders, from those taking their first lessons to more experienced riders looking to continue their development.
The right person will be able to provide clear, constructive instruction while creating an environment where riders feel comfortable learning, asking questions, and challenging themselves.
Responsibilities
- Provide private and group riding lessons
- Work with riders of different ages and experience levels
- Assess each rider’s current ability and provide instruction appropriate to their level
- Teach correct riding fundamentals and safe horse handling
- Help students improve their position, balance, confidence, and overall riding ability
- Select appropriate horses for riders based on ability and experience
- Set goals with students and track their progress over time
- Teach basic horsemanship and horse care as part of the lesson program
- Ensure horses and riders are properly prepared for each lesson
- Communicate with parents regarding younger riders when appropriate
- Maintain a safe learning environment for riders and horses
- Assist students preparing for horse shows or other riding goals when applicable
