About the Position
We are seeking a dependable Foaling Assistant for the upcoming breeding season. This position will assist with monitoring mares, foaling, and caring for mares and newborn foals throughout the season.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working around broodmares and foals, pays close attention to detail, and is able to work overnight hours as needed.
Responsibilities
- Monitor mares approaching their foaling dates
- Watch for signs of labor and notify appropriate staff
- Assist during foaling as directed
- Monitor mares and newborn foals following delivery
- Assist with basic newborn foal care
- Keep foaling stalls clean and properly bedded
- Maintain accurate foaling and observation records
- Report changes in a mare or foal’s condition promptly
- Assist with other breeding barn duties as needed
